As
you will no doubt have heard that the fires are really bad across OZ. While QLD
fires are mostly contained it’s a different story for NSW especially along the
coast line south of Sydney. Sadly four people died and hundreds of homes have
been lost. The figures are set to rise this coming weekend as NSW temperatures
will reach 44c. It’s far from over.
Last
month was bad for us with smoke surrounding our town from fires south of us. I
actually thought we would have to get into our car and drive north as smoke
entered our wooden Queenslander. Luckily the wind changed direction after a few
hours of concern. We of course have a fire plan to get the hell out of dodge if
things get worse.
It’s
not just about the fires we have had the most dreadful drought over the past
two years and our town of Warwick is bone dry with enforced extreme water
restrictions to 80 litres per adult per day with no rain forecast in the near
future. All in all pretty grim!!
This
is the worst fire season that we have experienced but its heart-warming to hear
about our wonderful Australian communities coming together and supporting those
in need. The volunteer firefighters continue to be amazing. However the government
really need extreme action to combat drought and climate change. It’s all been
too slack…..
We
had 6 days in Brisbane eating and drinking way too much now I’m feeling so full and
fat that a good fasting is in order….Fat chance.
We
are all well keeping cool in our home with a fantastic evaporative system while
outside is unbearable. Time for a cooler climate me thinks.
Happy New Year. May 2020 bring you all health and happiness...
